With many airlines restricting flights to certain countries, less and less people are jetting of this year than ever. Singapore airlines and recently Luton airport has stated that they are considering running flights to nowhere, that take off and land at the same airport. The flight will be treated like a normal flight aboard but once in the air you will fly around the local area for a few hours to then return to where you started from.
There has been many mixed thoughts on this with some saying it is a totally pointless idea and one that is not environmentally friendly either. Others think it may be just what they need to feel like they have had their holiday.
The airlines are hoping that if this does happen it will help them recoup some of their loses from this year which are sure to be massive and which will cause some airlines to go out of business for good.
At present, Covid safety measures will still need to be adhered to so it may be quite different to flights that you are used to. The other way they could make a bit of money is to run cheaper flights internally in the country. Flying is a fast way of travelling up and down the country but most people avoid it due to the cost. Offering low cost internal flights may be the way forward.
