Another advantage to holidaying more locally is that travel time is reduced giving you more time to enjoy the attractions on offer and it may even be possible to visit more than one location in a day. Some attractions offer dual tickets so that visitors save money by purchasing a ticket for two different venues at once.
Sometimes the best holiday activities do not cost anything so do not discount walks in a forest with a picnic lunch, a bicycle ride in the countryside or free activities that are organised by charities or by the local council.
