How to enjoy your holiday but look after your skin

If you are going abroad this year then you need to take care in the sun. The sun can not only damage or skin leaving it feeling dry and sore but it can have long-term affects which can lead to skin cancer.

It is important to try and avoid getting sunburnt and knowing when to stay out of the sun.

UV levels tell you how strong the sun is and despite many people thinking you don’t need to wear sun cream in the UK, it is totally not true. Even on days that feel cooler, you can get burnt by the sun if the UV levels are high.

Make sure that you apply a high factor sun cream in the morning covering all of your body not forgetting your face and places like the tops of your ears. If possible, wear a sun hat to try and protect your head and also be sure to stay hydrated. Although you can get once a day sun creams they may not last all day, especially in the fierce sun so you will need to top up again throughout the day especially if you go in the sea or the pool where it can get washed off.
