Taking care of your body when abroad

Going on holiday can be very exciting. Many people often book them in advance then spend weeks or months looking forward to the time off work and away from their normal day to day life. When on holiday it is easy to get carried away with sunbathing, drinking alcohol, having little sleep and basically overdoing it. All of these can have detrimental effects on your health that can not only ruin your holiday but cause long-term effects when you are back home.

If you are going abroad to a hot country then you need to ensure that you keep yourself hydrated. This is best achieved by drinking plenty of water. You should also ensure that you use the correct level of sunscreen to protect your skin from burning. Sunburn can cause you to become quite ill very quickly and can also be very uncomfortable.

Try and make time in the morning to consider what you will need during the day, especially if you are going out on a trip for example. Make sure that you have access to water and sun protection such as sunscreen and hats. Also, ensure that if you are going to be doing a lot of walking you have sensible shoes on.
