Over the last few decades there have been a number of toll roads introduced in to the UK. The idea of a toll road is to cut down on traffic and congestion on the main motorways and to allow people easy access to a place by paying a little bit of money. These toll roads can work well but some are simply not used enough. The M6 toll road for example is often pretty empty, which is great if you are looking for a quick route through but it has meant that as of this month the prices to use the road have increased. As of the 30th July the price for a car between 6am and 10pm Monday to Friday is now over £6! Doing this on a journey each way can really hike up your travel costs. This may mean that even less people use the road and ultimately that it is not raising enough funds to maintain it.
If you are using a satellite navigation system to get to a destination then you may have to tell it to avoid or allow toll roads. Yu can view the journey with and without using the toll roads and see if time it is going to save is worth the additional cost to you.
