Why not give the Scottish Isles a go this year?

Did you know that there are over seven hundred Scottish Isles ranging in size from the Island of Lewis and Harris at over eight hundred square miles to the tiny island of Inch Kenneth which is only fifty-five hectares? Each island has its own distinct character and offers something for everyone who is lucky enough to holiday there.

If you want to be able to walk along the breath-taking cliffs or across the beautiful beaches then the Isle of Arran is the perfect place to experience this. From the Island, seals, otters and basking sharks can often be seen from the cliff tops along with over a hundred different species of birds including the incredible golden eagle. For those golf enthusiasts among us there are tremendous golf courses available to enjoy on many of the islands with breath-taking scenery and abundant wildlife what is not to like?

For those travellers interested in history and culture many of the islands have ancient burial sites of medieval kings and noblemen the most famous of which is possibly the Island of Iona known as Scotland’s “cradle of Christianity”.

Travelling to the Scottish Isles is usually by ferry from the mainland but three of the larger islands have airports so it is possible to get a flight from a Scottish airport to these Islands.
