Staying in the historic city of Bath

As we look for holiday destinations closer to home this year many holidaymakers are considering places away from the busy coastal resorts and are turning their attention to historic cities, towns and villages around the UK. The city of Bath in Somerset is one such place and is a delightful place to visit either for a day trip or for a longer stay. Take a tour through time and explore the only UK city designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Roman Baths dating back to AD43 are a major attraction and it is interesting to see how the Romans liked to unwind. In the Pump Room restaurant, a delicious afternoon tea can be enjoyed after your visit.

The author Jane Austen based some of her classic novels in the city and as you stroll past the architectural masterpieces like the Royal Crescent and the Circus it is easy to picture the author here. The Jane Austen Centre can be visited to find out more about her life.

Bath is also a brilliant place to unwind whether in one of the smart cocktail bars or in the welcoming traditional pubs. In the evening, venues offering comedy, live music and theatre along with award-winning restaurants can be frequented so why not catch a show at Theatre Royal Bath then enjoy drinks in one of the stylish bars to complete your night out.
