Egypt – is it the place to visit?

Egypt is a country that is steeped in history and has a lot to offer, but with the threats and trouble that has been going on in the country and its bordering countries, many Brits are put off visiting there. The UK travel office offers guidance on where they believe is safe to travel to and stay based on the most up to date information they have. This information can be found on their website and it gives you advice about the country and rules and regulations they may have.

Currently, the majority of Egypt is considered safe to travel but you just need to be aware slightly more when going to these places than you maybe would in the UK. The main threats come from terrorists and hijackers. You need to make sure you stay safe by only going places that your tour operator tells you are considered safe. Often the reps will organise trips into the local towns or to places of interest such as the Valley of the Kings or the pyramids. Venturing off on your own if you do not know the area is not advised. If you feel safer, you could stay in the resort as they are often packed with things to do and most have their own private beaches.
