There are bars and clubs, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not renowned for that way of life, and it’s a bit more suited to couples and families who are looking for a relaxing holiday. There is a combination of cultures, here and you have to remember that it’s only a boat trip away from the Sahara desert, so you really do have to be prepared for the humid conditions, especially if you’re travelling in July.

You’re likely to see many wild dogs and cats in Fuerteventura and you do have to keep your wits about you, while the hunting wasp can leave a nasty sting. The Marcha Ciclotourista is a famous cycling event held in Fuerteventura while the wreck of the American Star can also be found there.
