People often find that they get ill when away from home. This can be for a number of reasons. Sometimes it is because the person is worried and anxious and find that they get a bad stomach other times it can be something that they have eaten or drunk that causes them to feel unwell.
If you are going to a hot country then it is very easy to get dehydrated unless you ensure that you drink plenty of fluids. Alcohol actually increases dehydration so it is important to have plenty of water throughout the day.
Sometimes people get ill from the local food. It may not be that there is something wrong with it, just that it is very different from what they are used to. This can be enough to make you feel sick or have tummy problems.
To try and avoid getting ill when away you should try and eat a little bit at a time and only eat food that has been properly cooked. Taking probiotics when away has been shown to improve digestion and help maintain a healthy gut.
In some countries it is not safe to drink the local water so you will need to drink bottled water. It may be that you even need to use bottled water to brush your teeth and avoid having ice in your drinks.
